BMW announced several premieres for the fallSeptember 17, 2019
The Bavarian automaker will present in the fall several new and updated models, including hybrid modifications of existing ones.
BMW continues to succeed in its drive to increase driving pleasure and performance with the latest soft hybrid technology. The debut of new models with the 48-volt system will take place in the fall of 2019. For the first time, a 48V starter-generator will be installed in the BMW 5-Series. According to the representatives of the brand, hybrid models with a plug-in module will offer even greater versatility and everyday practicality from November 2019, when a trailer hitch will be added to the list of options.
So, in the fall of 2019, BMW will introduce another element in its range of electrification strategy, which will accompany the ongoing expansion of the plug-in hybrid line. Soft hybrid technology makes its debut in the BMW 5-Series, where it will help both reduce the load on the internal combustion engine and increase its power, which means not only high efficiency, but also higher performance. The installation of an extremely powerful 48V starting generator and a second battery significantly extends the functionality of the regeneration of braking energy, allowing you to use all the energy received not only to power electric vehicles, but also to generate additional power. For this, the starter-generator acts as an electric drive, which helps the engine, allowing the latter to work in a load range optimized for efficiency.
By November 2019, soft hybrid technology will be installed as standard on the BMW 520d sedan, BMW 520d xDrive sedan, BMW 520d Touring and BMW 520d xDrive Touring. As a result, fuel consumption figures for a 190 hp four-cylinder diesel engine will be reduced by 0.3 liters per 100 kilometers.
Enhancements to the BMW 5-Series range also include new optics with BMW Laserlight technology. This lighting technology, which extends the high beam distance to 650 meters, will be added to the many innovations on board the BMW M550d xDrive Sedan and BMW M550d xDrive Touring from November 2019.
The BMW 3-Series and BMW 5-Series hybrid models are now also available with an electrically hinged trailed clutch, further enhancing the practical value of hybrid models in everyday driving. These models will have a maximum trailer load of 750 kg.
The design features of a particular model demonstrate the performance of the new BMW M135i xDrive even in its standard appearance. But now customers will be able to enjoy a 306 hp engine. even more by choosing the new M Performance package. It will include special 18-inch M alloy wheels in a design with Y-shaped spokes, which reduced the total weight of the car by 10 kilograms. Thanks to this, acceleration to 100 km / h was reduced by 0.1 seconds to 4.7 s. In addition to this, the new M Performance package for the BMW 135i xDrive offers exterior mirror trims and tailpipes with black trim, as well as the BMW radiator grille in glossy black with a trim painted in the same color.
