The company BMW and concern Daimler AG are close to the merger of their carring services – DriveNow and Car2Go, respectively. About this, with reference to its own sources, Reuters reported.

A joint venture of two German cars will receive independent management. The largest shareholders of the car-clearing service will be BMW and Daimler AG. As part of the merger, the new company will also receive, for example, ParkNow parking application developed by BMW.

Reuters interlocutors noted that the companies decided to combine their services to fight against Uber.

Concern Daimler AG launched Car2Go in 2008. With the help of the service in a short-term lease, you can take Mercedes-Benz and Smart cars. The company’s fleet consists of 14,000 cars that are located in 26 cities in the US, Europe and China. DriveNow service appeared in 2011. It is a joint project of BMW and the rental company Sixt. In the park of this company there are more than 6,000 cars that are rented out in Europe.
