BMW 8-Series Convertible revealed before the premiereJuly 20, 2018
Photo shooters managed to shoot the revived 8-Series in the back of a cabriolet. In the photos published by the edition of AutoExpress, the car is presented without camouflage. The novelty was captured during the tests in Scotland. The premiere of the car will take place no later than the middle of next year.
The design of the novelty repeats the coupe of the same name, which was presented earlier. The car will receive a wide grille, LED optics, a sport exhaust system with chrome-plated nipples and a fabric top. It is expected that the convertible will add 100-125 kg in weight.
Most likely, the spy photos show a novelty in the modification of the M850i. This version will get a 4.4-liter petrol turbo V8. The unit’s capacity is 530 hp. With this engine to 100 km/h the coupe accelerates in 3.7 seconds. For a convertible, this figure will grow to 4 seconds.
The motor will work together with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The car will be equipped with a four-wheel drive system, a self-locking rear differential and an upgraded braking system.
The equipment of the M850i version also includes a self-locking rear differential, powerful brakes with 395 mm wheels and active anti-roll bars, which can be ordered as an option.
In addition to the gasoline engine, for the eighth series diesel will be available. Three-liter six-cylinder unit produces 320 forces and 680 Nm of torque. 100 km/h coupe with this engine is gaining in 4.9 seconds.
Dynamic characteristics of the cabriolet are not yet reported. Coupes will start selling in Germany in November.
