BMW 3 Series of the new generation will be lighter than its predecessorAugust 14, 2018
Before the debut of the new generation of the popular sedan 3 Series, there is less and less time, and, as always, the automaker begins to organize information leaks designed to warm up interest in the novelty.
As reported by the portal Bmwblog with reference to its sources, the new generation of the sedan, which received the index G20, will be built on the basis of the modular platform CLAR, which is the basis of most of the latest models of the brand, and in comparison with its predecessor, the sedan “will lose weight” by 55 kilograms, which will improve its dynamic characteristics and fuel efficiency.
It is expected that the base version will receive a three-cylinder engine with a volume of 1.5 liters, while the top version of the M340i will be equipped with an updated three-liter “six” B58, whose capacity is 380 horsepower. The engine will operate with an eight-speed automatic ZF, and the engine will also receive a 48-volt system with a starter generator that will feed the on-board electronics and climate control while coasting.
In addition, the model will be available with two-liter petrol and diesel engines, and they should also receive a “soft hybrid” system.
Hybrid modifications iPerformance will be represented by modifications 325e and 330e. The power of their power plants will be in the area of 230-282 horsepower.
As for the salon, there is expected the emergence of a multimedia system in the spirit of the BMW 8 Series.
In the appendage to all this, the sedan will receive stand-alone technology, and standard LED-headlights, which can be replaced by laser for a surcharge.
The public debut of the BMW 3 Series G20 is expected to take place in October this year at the Paris Motor Show.
Production of new items will begin in November this year. Compete the sedan will be primarily with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE, and Audi A4.
