Companies Jaguar Land Rover and BlackBerry signed a contract, designed for several years. As part of this cooperation, the Canadian company will assist the British in the development of electronic vehicle systems. The first joint project will be a multimedia complex of a new generation.
Joint development will be based on the QNX operating system. In addition, the complex of security and data protection developed by BlackBerry, called Certicom, will be applied.
For cooperation with Jaguar Land Rover in BlackBerry created a separate group of engineers who will deal with projects with the British automaker.
Now the Jaguar Land Rover cars use the InControl multimedia system. Its British automaker was developing independently with the support of its owners from India.
Jaguar Land Rover is not the first company to use BlackBerry products for multimedia systems of its cars. In 2015, Ford introduced the entertainment complex SYNC 3, made on the basis of QNX.
