Bentley has prepared the Continental GT coupe for a record for the centenary of the brandJune 7, 2019
The coupe try to improve the previous achievement for production cars
British brand Bentley introduced a special version of the coupe Continental GT, which will compete for the title of the fastest production car Pikes Peak. The coupe is painted in a greenish-lemon hue Radium and put on the body graphics in the form of a mountain with a schematic depiction of the route.
An attempt to set a new record of high-speed ascent to the mountain will take place on June 30th. As a racing car, we chose a Continental GT coupe with a 6.0 W12 engine, and with an asset of 635 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. Combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission, it accelerates the car to the first 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds. The maximum speed of the Continental GT is 333 kilometers per hour.
Coupe number 100, which symbolizes the anniversary of the company, passed intensive tests and prepared for a sharp elevation difference and oxygen starvation. Inside the compartment, an onboard oxygen-air mixture supply system is installed directly into the pilot’s helmet, Rice Millen, the record holder of the previous year.
In 2018, Millen behind the wheel of a Bentley Bentaya set a Pikes-Pick record for serial crossovers. He drove the track in 10 minutes 49.9 seconds, which is almost two minutes faster than the previous achievement of the 510-hp Range Rover Sport.
