Bentley discontinues production of the Mulsanne modelJune 26, 2020
The company has already shown the latest version of Mulliner, the assembly of which was established at the newly opened plant.
The Bentley range will soon lose one of its luxurious models – this is a Mulsanne car. Such information shared Autocar. Recall that for the first time the car went on sale in 2009. Over the 11 years of its existence, the car has earned respect in the world market, but has not become a bestseller.
Most likely, this is due to the sharp increase in the popularity of large crossovers and SUVs. Another reason was the cessation of production of a large 6.75-liter engine, which was installed under the hood of a sedan. The latest Mulsanne is assembled in the Mulliner version – the work was carried out at the factory recently opened after the pandemic.
Bentley shared photos of such a car from the factory. A total of 30 Bentley Mulsanne 6.75 Edition cars were assembled at the enterprise. And the last copy received a unique color, combining gold and silver shades. An engine with a return of 530 hp is used as a power plant.
The final version received other backlighting, as well as decals on the exterior and inside. Another novelty will be the personal signature of the CEO – previously this procedure was performed by engineers. After the model ceases to be produced, the flagship in the Bentley sedan line will be Flying Spur – this car will acquire a modern hybrid engine in 2023.
Meanwhile, Bentley published a teaser ahead of the debut of an updated version of Bentayga. The official premiere will take place on June 30.
