Bentley Bentayga will receive a “stretched” versionOctober 16, 2020
Rumors of an extended version of the Bentayga SUV have been circulating on the Internet for almost 4 years now, and now it looks like it has finally happened.
At the end of 2016, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer spoke to Autocar about the success of the now defunct Mulsanne LWB and how easy it would be to expand the brand’s lineup. It looks like the company’s luxury SUV will be next in line to receive an extended wheelbase to meet the needs of the Middle East and China. As it became known the distance between the axles will increase by 2,995 mm in comparison with the basic version, in which this figure is 5,140 mm. The pictures of the test prototype published on the network show that the rear doors have become larger.
Needless to say, the increased length between the front and rear wheels will bring more rear legroom. Bentley is already calling the four-seater version in its redesigned SUV limousine, but expects the LWB model to take everything a notch in terms of comfort.
It looks like Crewe is not planning any design changes to the SUV as the Bentayga LWB looks pretty much the same as the standard model except for the rear doors. There will likely be some tweaks to the interior to make the most of the added rear room with softer seats and added amenities.
Bentley is expected to unveil a lengthened Bentayga sometime in 2021. True, it is not yet clear whether the car will appear in Europe and Russia. The motor range should remain unchanged. The diesel Bentayga is unlikely to return, while a plug-in hybrid appears.
