Beijing unveils Jeep-style crossoverSeptember 29, 2020
A new model of the Beijing Offroad brand was shown at the Beijing Auto Show.
The crossover, which received the BJ30 index, is not a fundamental novelty: according to the CarNewsChina portal, the model is a substantially updated BJ20.
Cross BJ20 brand, which is part of the BAIC concern, showed back in 2015. The then novelty received a kind of exterior, which was a bit like the previous versions of the Jeep Compass. As the agency notes, it was the design that did not contribute to the high popularity of the model, for this reason it was decided to refine it, along the way changing the index.
The length of the crossover is 4505 mm with a wheelbase of 2675 mm, which makes it comparable in size to the Kia Sportage. Beijing Offroad BJ30 got a revised front part, which received a different grille, different optics and an original bumper with three angular air intakes. The same elements are used on the rear bumper, where they appear to serve as imitation tailpipes.
The engine of the cross has not changed. So, the BJ30 is driven by a 156-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo engine, with which a 6-speed manual transmission or CVT transmission functions. The drive is exclusively front-wheel drive. As for the start date of sales of the Beijing Offroad BJ30, it will go to dealers in October this year.
In addition, it was recently noted that the Korean company Genesis has published the first official photos of the GV70 crossover. It should be emphasized that it is currently unknown when exactly the Korean novelty will debut.
