Toyota finally decided on the date of the public premiere of the new crossover, the basis for which was the conceptual TJ Cruiser.
In May this year, Toyota will present its new Toyota TJ Cruiser crossover, built on the basis of the prototype of the same name, which debuted at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. In the name of the model, according to the automaker, deep meaning is encrypted. So, “T” is the first letter of the word Toolbox, and “J” is the abbreviation for Joy. The basis for the new items was the TNGA platform. The length of the car reaches 4,300 mm with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm, and its width and height are 1,755 and 1,620 mm, respectively. Toyota TJ Cruiser receives a four-seater saloon with comfortable sliding doors for second-row passengers.
If necessary, the seats can be folded to a flat floor. This configuration allows the transport of goods whose length exceeds three meters.
Working on the exterior of the cross-section, the developers tried to give it brutal and slightly aggressive features. TJ Cruiser equipped with a massive off-road plastic body kit and athletic wheel arch extensions. All body panels are protected from scratches thanks to a special coating. The conceptual cross-drive was driven by a hybrid power plant consisting of an aspirated engine with a displacement of two liters and an electric engine. The drive could be front or full. What engine range will get a serial car, not yet reported.
