Automobiles Lynk & Co will be produced at the Volvo plant in EuropeMarch 26, 2018
Release of cars of a young brand will be adjusted at the enterprise located in the Belgian Ghent.
The brand Lynk & Co was established by Geely and Volvo in 2016. At the moment, under the new brand, they sell one model – the crossover 01, while the SUV is only available in China, and its production is established there. By the end of 2019, the production of Lynk & Co cars will start at the Volvo plant in Ghent, they will be destined for the European market.
The Belgian company employs about 5,000 people. Today, this plant produces a Volvo XC40 SUV, hatchback V40 and its cross-version of V40 Cross Country, S60 sedan. Soon on the conveyor will also stand the station wagon of the new generation. By the way, XC40 is built on the CMA platform developed by Volvo together with Geely (the Chinese company owns the Swedish brand), Lynk & Co 01 is based on the same platform, it will form the basis of other models of the new brand.
It is expected that in the Old World sales of Lynk & Co machines will begin in the first half of 2020. In China, the crossover 01 is offered with a petrol 4-cylinder turbo Volvo 2.0 Drive-E with a power of 190 hp. Transmission – manual, automatic or seven-speed robotic transmission with two clutches. Later, the crossover should still get a turbo engine Volvo 1.5 (156 or 179 hp): this engine only recently debuted on the Volvo XC40. Lynk & Co 01 has an all-wheel drive version.
Meanwhile, today, March 26, Lynk & Co will present its second product model – a compact “parketnik” with the index 02. The premiere of this crossover will take place at a special event in the Netherlands. Most likely, Lynk & Co 02 will also “prescribe” at the Belgian Volvo plant.
