Australian Grand Prix: Free arrivals on Saturday

March 16, 2019 0 By autotimesnews

Saturday training took place in good weather, which allowed the pilots to travel a greater distance and prepare for the qualification. Max Verstappen spent it on a new chassis – after Friday’s races on his car a fuel leak was found, and in order not to risk it, the team decided to change the chassis entirely.

Max first went on the road to try out the new chassis. Run-in was quite successful, after which he returned to the pits for a long time. The rest of the leaders on the track were in no hurry, allowing the second echelon pilots to be polished – including Daniel Kvyat. Then on the first line rose Vettel, but the first quick circle Hamilton took away his leadership.

In the future, the results improved, but the alignment of forces remained unchanged – Hamilton was in the lead, Vettel was second, Leckler and Bottas fought for the third place. At the end of the session, the Haas pilots, who managed to beat Bottas, were able to show very good times.

The drivers of Red Bull Racing this time in the fight for high places did not participate, and in general were not very active. Only at the end of the session, both returned to the top ten, and went out ahead of Verstappen. However, there was quite strong traffic on the track, which influenced the results.
