Austin Mini Pickup or the cutest little truckMarch 25, 2020
In the framework of RM Sotheby’s foreign auction, which will be held in May this year, dozens of pretty cool cars will appear among the lots. Among them will be a stunning Austin Mini Pickup pickup, released already in 1972.
The Mini Pickup was originally introduced back in 1961 and was built on the longer Mini Van platform. With a rear cargo compartment with an open top and a rear door, the car occupied a length of 3.4 meters and weighed about 680 kilograms in running order. A total of 58,179 Mini Pickups were produced between 1961 and 1983.
This particular instance came off the assembly line of the British factory in the early 1970s and has an original four-cylinder engine with a capacity of 1275 cubic meters. cm with a double SU carburetor under the hood.
In combination with a four-speed manual gearbox, it gives out 69 horsepower and 104 Nm of torque. This is of course not very much, but according to the assurances of the owners of Austin Mini Pickup, this is enough for the typewriter.
Needless to say, the car is in perfect technical condition and even has several small modifications compared to the standard version. For example, the loading platform is covered with beautiful wooden panels, and is also a place to store a spare wheel, “shod” in the Pirelli tire. The interior of the truck is covered in red carpet and is equipped with leather seats and a Mountney steering wheel. Unfortunately, there is no data on the price of this cute Mini truck.
