Audi will release a competitor Tesla Model S by 2020March 16, 2018
Audi confirmed the information about the beginning of work on a four-door electric car called E-Tron GT. As announced at the annual press conference of the German brand, the premiere of the car will take place in 2020. According to Autocar, the new flagship of the German company will compete with Tesla Model S.
Also at the press conference, the first teaser image of the novelty was shown. Production of the machine will be arranged at the plant in the city of Neckarsulme (Germany). The development of the electric car is led by the Audi Sport division, which previously announced the work on environmentally friendly cars.
All the technical specifications of the E-Tron GT are kept secret. According to unofficial data, the all-wheel drive sedan will be driven by four electric motors. The reserve of the car will be about 500 kilometers. A number of parts and components of the novelty will borrow from the electric crossover Audi Q6.
The novelty can use a scalable architecture, the creation of which deals with Porsche. The new chassis will receive the designation SPE and will be the third architecture of the Volkswagen concern, designed specifically for cars with fully electric power units.
