Audi will release a compact electric crossover in 2020December 18, 2018
Audi will launch a prototype of a new compact electric crossover in 2019, and the production version of the model will appear a year later. About this edition of Autocar told the chief designer of the German brand Mark Lichte.
“Green” SUV in its dimensions will take place between the current models of Q2 and Q3. It is assumed that the new product will be the best-selling car in the electric range of Audi. The crossover will appear at the same time as the sales of the E-tron GT electric coupe, which premiered in November at a motor show in Los Angeles, will start.
In size, the prototype turned out to be close to the A7 Sportback hatchback. Its length was 4.96 m, width – 1.96 m, and height – 1.38 meters. The size of the wheelbase is 2.90 meters. The car has luggage compartments in front and rear of 100 and 450 liters respectively.
The novelty is built on the same platform as the first Porsche electric car – the Taycan. Audi e-tron GT is equipped with two electric engines (one on each axis), which together give 590 horsepower. The electric car is able to accelerate from the spot to the first 100 km/h in about 3.5 seconds, and it takes about 12 seconds to accelerate to 200 km / h. The maximum speed is forcibly limited to 240 km per hour.
