Audi will introduce a rival Mercedes CLA coupe in 2021July 16, 2019
The German brand will introduce a competitor for the second-generation Mercedes CLA coupe or for the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe in 2021.
Audi has long played with the idea of making a compact sedan, taking into account the TT Sportback concept presented earlier (shown in the photo), which was shown in October 2014. But still, this model was never presented. The guys from Audi clearly want to oppose a second-generation Mercedes CLA coupe for the 4-door coupe or for the upcoming BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe.
It seems that those who are interested in a more stylish fellow sedan A3, will have to wait a little more, as the new report published by the Autocar, says that the presentation of the five-door liftback was postponed to 2021.
The reason for the delay is related to the “current technical capabilities”, which means that Audi is primarily engaged in the development of other models.
The report further details the extensive model range that the A3 will offer with the next generation, including the usual Sportback and sedan, but not the three-door hatchback and convertible, as these two body types have obviously been removed due to low demand for them. According to insiders, Audi is currently preparing a new version of the A3 model, which will be named Cityhopper. This car will be full of a hatchback version of the drive, and its display should not be expected before the middle of 2021.
Sources at Audi told Autocar that the next-generation A3 will be “the most advanced car in its class.” A senior representative of the company said that the novelty will offer “premium comfort” and a wide list of equipment, even the most advanced features.
Not so long ago, our publication wrote that the ABT studio presented a 464-hp version of the Audi RS3 Sportback. The guys from the tuning company presented a more powerful version of the German car. After all the work was completed, the engine began to give out at 70 hp. more.
