Audi will install SES on the roof of its enterprise
February 25, 2019The automobile concern Audi will install photovoltaic solar power plants with a total capacity of 12 MW at two logistics centers in the territory of their enterprise in the Hungarian city of Gyor.
The energy concern “E.ON” will fulfill the order and manage the facility. This was reported in the press release of the company. This roofing solar power plant will occupy 160 thousand square meters of roof and will produce 9.5 GWh. This capacity is equivalent to the “annual energy consumption of 5,000 Hungarian households”.
Commissioning is scheduled for early 2020. Audi’s strategic goal is climate-neutral production, that is, the balance of emissions associated with production activities should be zero or negative. Geothermal sources provide 70% of the heat needs of Hungarian automaker enterprises.
The new SES will help Audi achieve its long-term goal. The project of the German automaker once again confirms that the buildings, especially the giant flat roofs of industrial and commercial facilities – is a huge resource for the development of solar energy.
Earlier it was reported that Chinese scientists plan to send SES into Earth orbit at an altitude of 36,000 kilometers. Solar energy will be converted into microwaves and sent to a receiving device on Earth for conversion into electricity.
