Audi Sport showed the first electric car with the RS nameplateOctober 24, 2020
The newest car Audi RS e-tron GT will appear in public as part of the “24 Hours Spa”.
A couple of weeks ago, Audi has already dumped a huge portion of photo and video teasers of the “four-door coupe” e-tron GT, and now it has shown its “charged” version with the coveted RS letters in the name. Pictures of the prototype were published on the official page of the Audi Sport division on Facebook.
The RS e-tron GT poses against the backdrop of several R8 LMS racing cars for a reason: tomorrow, October 24th, the electric sports car will be the guest of honor in the 24 Hours of Spa marathon. Whether any technical details will be revealed is not yet clear.
The Audi e-tron GT is based on the Porsche Taycan. The latter in the older Turbo S modification has a twin-engine unit that develops 625 hp. and 850 Nm with the possibility of a short-term increase in recoil to 761 hp. and 1050 Nm with activated launch control. Such “Taikan” gains 100 km / h in 2.8 seconds and can accelerate to 260 km / h.
It was previously reported about the Audi RS e-tron GT that its top version will also be more powerful than 700 hp. At the same time, it is not a fact that the technical stuffing will be completely borrowed from Porsche without changes. Alternatively, RS can be made three-engine – following the example of the crossovers e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback.
The electric car will be produced in conjunction with the Audi R8 gasoline sports cars at the Böllinger Höfe plant in Neckarsulm. Production will start this year. It was rumored that, in addition to the e-tron GT, the company could revive the R8 e-tron supercar, but there has been no new information on this for a long time, and in general the idea seems dubious.
