Audi spokesman hinted at the appearance of a new generation RS Q5

As part of his interview, a representative of the German brand made it clear that work is underway to create an Audi RS Q5 – the most powerful version of the mid-size crossover. It is not clear where and when the new product will appear.

Rumors about the high-performance Audi RS Q5 have been circulating in the network since April 2015, but now is the first of July 2020, and we still have no signs of this mid-size crossover performance.

At the moment, the most powerful version of the crossover is the SQ5. The situation may change in the near future, as in the new publication of foreign editions of CarSales, the words of the official representative of Audi are quoted, which does not exactly exclude the appearance of a more powerful version of the crossover model.

When asked about the prospects for the RS Q5, Michael Crusius, a representative of Audi’s mid-range crossover department, said: “The appearance of the RS Q5 is a very interesting topic to talk about, but right now I can’t reveal all the details.”

In other words, he does not say categorically “no”, but at the same time he does not say “yes” either. Reading between the lines, we argue that yes, such a version of the crossover will certainly be presented, but perhaps not immediately.

It can be assumed that the RS Q5 can debut in 2021, and under its hood there will be a 2.9-liter V6 engine with two turbines, whose power is 444 horsepower (600 Nm).

We know for sure that the premiere of the Q5 Sportback coupe crossover will take place before the end of this year. The novelty will become a competitor for the Bavarian BMW X4 and for better competition, it should receive more productive versions of the SQ5 and RS5.
