Audi S3, Mercedes-AMG CLA35 and MINI JCW fight in dragMarch 8, 2020
Carwow YouTube channel reviewer tested the dynamics of three entry-level sports models from Audi, the BMW subsidiary and Mercedes-Benz. The MINI Clubman JCW station wagon was opposed by the Audi S3 and Mercedes-AMG CLA35 sedans. All duelists have four-wheel drive with a rear axle clutch and 2.0-liter turbo engines with a capacity of about 300 forces.
Sedan Audi S3 – the oldest among rivals. The “warmed up” version of the new generation Audi A3 is about to be presented, but for now, the three-volume model of the 2013 model is on test. Under the hood, a 300-horsepower (380 Nm) four-cylinder engine, the transmission is a six-speed “robot”.
According to the passport characteristics, the S3 is not inferior to competitors: the claimed acceleration from zero to 100 kilometers per hour for all three cars is 4.9 seconds.
MINI Clubman JCW is equipped with a “turbo four” B48 with a return of 306 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Transmission – an eight-band automatic.
The Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 drives a supercharged 306-horsepower (400 Nm) M 260 engine. Power is transmitted to the drive wheels through a seven-speed “robot” with two clutches.
On a slippery track, the final quarter mile race time depended on the driver’s reaction at the start. In three attempts, the opponents showed comparable results with a difference of 0.1-0.3 seconds. The final winner of the competition revealed a test of the effectiveness of the brakes.
