Audi RS2 Avant shown in commercial 25 years laterNovember 10, 2019
Better late than never, right?
In 1994, Audi showed the world that practicality and high performance can be combined in one model. Based on the Audi 80, the RS2 Avant would have forever earned them a place in the history of the automotive industry, offering unique looks and power that were ahead of their time, and at the same time could offer comfort for five people at once. That was exactly 25 years ago, and in order to celebrate the RS2 Avant’s birthday, Audi decided that it was necessary to shoot a certain video and edit it to go on the air. The video is a short film dedicated to the history of a model that did not go on sale in the US market.
The shots were shot with all the retro graphics that would fit perfectly in ordinary advertising in the late 80s or early 90s. This is a pleasant journey in memory, complemented by an overly enthusiastic storyteller and such high-profile offers as “Hi-Fi Stereo with a cassette player as standard.” This video perfectly reflects everything that Audi wanted to convey with its world’s first practical supercar, which allows everyone to understand that this is the result of a very strong partnership with Porsche. Even one of the last few scenes shows performance indicators and the actual changes made to the car to achieve these figures from zero to 60 miles per hour. And, apparently, “We tried to put all this into a standard sedan. But alas, no. ” Humor is perfect.
On the other hand, if you ever needed a reason to find used Audi RS2 Avants online, then this is the best option. And 25 years is the legal and right age for importation into the United States. Better late than never, right?
