Audi RS Q8 shown on renderingsAugust 30, 2019
In the early days of August, Audi confirmed that six brand new products will debut before the end of this year. One of these RS cars has already been introduced – the new RS6 Avant, which will finally be available in the US, and the new RS7 is likely to appear very soon. Meanwhile, the Germans are also working on a “charged” version of RS for Q8, which should be located above the atual SQ8 with a soft hybrid transmission based on a diesel engine.
RS Q8 was seen with almost no camouflage a week ago, and now an exclusive render has been published on the Web that demonstrates the new product. Comparing this image with spy photos, visible changes can be noted only in front, where a different radiator grill with a different pattern appeared and a slightly modified lower diffuser. Side skirts seem a little more expressive than on a test prototype.
There is no reliable information about which engine will receive the new Q8. Experts suggest that the new product will receive a hybrid Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid system, which is based on a 4.0-liter V8, a pair of which is an electric motor. In total, the unit produces 680 horsepower and 849 Nm of torque. However, some argue that the RS Q8 will not use an electrical component and will rely on the same transmission that the Lamborghini Urus is equipped with.
No matter what Audi decides, the power should be over 600 hp. Also, the novelty will receive a proprietary all-wheel drive Quattro system and an automatic transmission. Other updates compared to the regular Q8 should include adaptive suspension, improved brakes, steering modifications and much more.
