Audi declassified its new electric car called AI: me. The public premiere of the prototype will be held at the Shanghai Auto Show. In the company itself, the novelty was described as “a compact car with an autonomous control system for future megacities”. According to representatives of the German brand, the prototype gives an idea of ​​the development of electric cars of the German brand in the next ten years.

The novelty is built on the MEB platform, which was developed specifically for models with an electric power plant. The length of the car is 4.30 m, width 1.90 m, and height 1.52 meters. The size of the wheelbase is 2.77 meters. AI: me is made in a futuristic style. The car received short overhangs and adaptive shock absorbers. The cabin is set retractable steering wheel, three-dimensional digital dashboard.

AI: me is equipped with an electric motor that is installed on the rear axle. Power unit is 170 horsepower. It is assumed that the car will be used only in the city with a speed of 20 to 70 km / h, therefore, according to the developers of such a power plant, the car is quite enough. The power reserve of the car ranges from 400 to 600 kilometers. The charger is under the floor of the electric vehicle.

Novelty equipped unmanned system of the fourth level. This means that the car can move autonomously – without driver assistance. In space, the electric car is oriented due to a complex set of lasers, ultrasonic sensors, radar and video cameras.

It is expected that AI: me will be used in the carsharing system of the future. You can call the car to your home or office using a special application. The machine is equipped with special niches for storing laptops and tablets, as well as special magnets that can hold metal cups or plates.

Also, the novelty is completed with an upgraded information and entertainment system and augmented reality glasses that allow you to project virtual images in the cabin. Management of various information and entertainment functions is carried out using gestures and voice commands.

Audi plans to launch a fleet of its own unmanned vehicles by 2021. This event will be timed to the 50th anniversary of the famous advertising slogan Vorsprung durch Technik (“Promotion through technology”), which appeared in 1971.
