Audi returns to the lineup the rear-wheel drive sports car Audi R8 RWD 2021October 9, 2020
Next year, the company will return a rear-wheel drive sports car Audi R8 RWD to the lineup.
Several years ago, Audi announced the start of sales of the rear-wheel drive sports car Audi R8 RWS. Due to the lack of an all-wheel drive system, it was lighter and cheaper than conventional R8s, but its circulation was limited to 320 copies, which very quickly found their buyers. However, in 2021 Audi is going to bring the model back on sale, this time there will be no restrictions.
In fact, the regular R8 RWD and R8 RWS are similar – both are powered by a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 532 hp petrol engine, which is paired with a 7-speed “robot”. The coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.6 seconds and the convertible in 3.5 seconds. By comparison, a rear-wheel drive sports car weighs 1,620 kg, a rear-wheel-drive convertible 1,730 kg, and an all-wheel drive coupe 1,670 kg.
At the same time, the suspension of mono-drive models is somewhat different – Audi engineers replaced the rear hollow axle shafts with solid ones, and also replaced the front anti-roll bar with a more rigid one. The rear-wheel drive Audi R8 RWD will go on sale this winter at a price of $ 144,195, which is $ 25,000 less than an all-wheel drive sports car.
