Audi Q3 second generation grew in size, but lost the motor scaleJuly 25, 2018
The visually new Q3 resembles a reduced Q8: radiator grille, optics, bumper with air intakes and even mirrors are made in a similar key. With the restyling version of the Q3 of the first generation and it is not worth comparing: the second-generation car now looks like a completely new model on its background.
But behind the radical changes a bit, although the body as well as the body kit with lanterns were updated, but the most different is the completely different exhaust system, which is integrated into the bumper by the second-generation car.
The new Q3 has grown considerably in dimensions: the length of the crossover is 4,485 mm (+97 mm), the width is 1,856 mm (+25 mm), the height is 1,585 mm (-5 mm). The wheelbase reaches 2 680 mm (+77 mm), which, according to Audi, passengers in the back row feel freer. Depending on the position of the rear “sofa”, the volume of the trunk of the new Q3 varies from 530 to 675 liters (in the first generation the volume of the trunk reaches 420 liters).
The first generation of Q3 was equipped with gasoline engines in volume of 1.4 and 2.0 liters (about the version of RS it is now not) with output of 150, 180, 200 and 220 horsepower, as well as turbodiesel with a capacity of two liters with a return of 120, 150 and 184 hp. The new generation of crossover will have three petrol engines to choose from, and one turbodiesel. The details are not disclosed yet, but with a high degree of certainty it can be assumed that Audi simply reduced the number of proposed engine modifications for the new Q3, and slightly strengthened the most powerful two-liter gasoline version by 10 forces. Work engines will be like a six-speed manual transmission, and with robotic S tronic for seven speeds. But the six-speed automatic transmission Aisin TF-60SN, which was offered in the North American market, is not mentioned.
The new Q3 received the latest version of the multimedia system MMI. In the basic version, its screen has a diagonal of 8.8 inches, the top version will have a 10.1 inch display, support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, LTE, Google Earth navigation, DAB radio. Also, multimedia supports the application myAudi app, thanks to which the machine can be opened using a smartphone. The analogue dashboard was replaced by the digital one – Audi virtual cockpit. In the basic version, it will have a diagonal of 10.25 inches, as an option will be offered an improved version with a diagonal of 12.3 inches. The sound will be answered by a 15-channel Bang & Olufsen audio system with a capacity of 680 watts (for a first-generation car, a 6-channel 180-watt audio system).
The second generation Audi Q3 is now equipped with adaptive cruise control (in the version with the robotic transmission), which will monitor the band (the Q3 of the first generation is available as an option), and also observe the distance in traffic jams. There is in the car and a camera of a circular view, aтв advanced parktronic. For security, the package pre sens, which is equipped with a collision avoidance system, is available, and it will be available already in the basic configuration of the new Q3.
Produced Audi Q3 will be in Hungary, in European auto shows, it will begin to appear in November this year. Before the start of sales will be published and prices.
