Audi is preparing to take part in the event Formula Student Germany 2018August 5, 2018
As part of the work on future technologies, as well as attracting prospective employees, Audi will take part in the Formula Student Germany 2018 event in Hockenheim, Germany. Within this competition, students and young scientists from 23 countries will compete in several categories. The German brand will also participate and will focus only on two nominations for Formula Electric and Formula Driverless with three groups of students.
“Innovations are taking place here,” – says Antje Maas, head of international marketing for Audi personnel. “Anyone who shows a spirit of innovation and commitment to the team in Formula Student will have all the qualities that we appreciate in Audi. That’s why we continue our participation – with a new direction this year.”
As it became clear from the title, the company is going to concentrate its efforts on electrification and unmanned technologies. Audi hopes to launch more than 20 electrified models by 2025.
It is also planned to create the first autonomous car by 2021. The working team includes experts from 25 countries, who are engaged in the creation of unmanned technologies in the Munich division of Audi. In the near future, the company hopes to attract about 600 new employees, for the development of new technologies.
“At present, our company is actively developing,” – added Antje Maas. “Therefore, young engineers and IT professionals have every chance to think about and shape changes in Audi.”
Although drones are the technology of the future, this does not mean that Audi racing cars are completely deprived of pilots. In the presented photo of one of the prototypes, we see that the car has a place for the pilot and the steering wheel. It is possible that the drone will act as an expanded assistant, but it is also possible that the pilot will perform the role of a backup, in case the computer system fails.
