Audi is preparing to release the new Audi A3 in digital formatMay 7, 2020
About 35,000 sales and service employees from 90 countries use virtual technology to study cars. Formats range from web-based tutorials, video tutorials and chats to augmented reality and virtual reality.
Audi is currently preparing to launch the new model in a purely digital format for the first time in its history: the new A3 family will be delivered to customers around the world throughout the year. To do this, it is necessary to prepare and train about 15 thousand employees of sales and service departments, as well as about 20 thousand service specialists in retail outlets around the world. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Audi for the first time completely abandoned full-time study and instead uses a variety of digital formats – from online training to augmented reality learning and virtual reality learning.
“With the new A3 family, we are launching one of the most important model lines on the market this year. Thanks to the great commitment, creativity and motivation of our team and our partners, we were able to quickly and flexibly switch to digital training formats so that our worldwide sales and service network could optimize their preparation for this, ”said Horst Hanshur, Head of Retail Business Development and customer service at AUDI AG.
AUDI AG provides centralized training – and usually also physically on site – with approximately 400 product, sales, and service trainers, as well as about 250 technical trainers from 90 markets around the world. These trainers then pass on what they have learned to the appropriate field staff. To ensure uniform quality standards worldwide, AUDI AG has already released a large number of digital training materials for this purpose – some of which are recorded in the company’s own television studio – and made them available in different languages. Virtual reality formats were also first used to enter the Audi e-tron market.,
Technical training for the new A3 was also presented on a purely digital basis. For the model, a digital self-study program with preliminary and subsequent testing, an own video format – Audi Service TV – and training programs for experts on issues coming from the markets are offered. Soon, the company will finish creating an application with virtual reality, which will contain the technical characteristics of the new Audi A3.
All content is available worldwide in the Audi Knowledge Tank digital knowledge database.
The new Audi A3 Sportback and A3 Sedan are now available for order in Europe. Deliveries of commercial vehicles to dealerships will begin in the summer, after which the model will begin to appear in other markets. The Audi A3 g-tron and plug-in hybrid version will also appear this year.
