Audi has started to develop a new electric sedan. The car will be presented in 2020 and will be the flagship of the German brand.
Earlier it was reported that under the name Audi A9 will produce four-door coupe, which had become a competitor Mercedes S-Class Coupe and the Bentley Continental GT. Now the new A9 is considered as the main competitor Tesla Model S.
The new Audi A9 will receive 3 motors, one of which will propel the front wheels and the other two – the rear. Without charging a new car will drive 500 km.
It is expected that A9 built on the same platform as the first electric crossover Audi Q6, scheduled to premiere in 2018. In addition, expected that A9 will receive a system of independent control, to be more advanced than the Audi A8 new generation. For the first time this technology will be presented at the A8 sedan. The system can independently manage sedan at the freeway traffic at speeds up to 60 km/h. However, for A9 this technology will be significantly upgraded.
Earlier it was reported that a third of the Audi’s budget, dedicated to research and development of future models, go to electric cars. By 2020, the German automaker intends to release at least three electric cars.
