Audi introduced a gas version of the A3 hatchbackSeptember 15, 2020
Sales of the new modification will start in Europe this fall
Audi has officially unveiled the gas-powered A3 Sportback. The A3 Sportback 30 g-tron hatchbacks will arrive in European dealers shortly. The model will cost 30,700 euros.
Bi-fuel hatchback Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron can run on natural gas and biomethane. The fuel is stored in three cylinders located at the rear of the body. A steel cylinder that can hold four kilograms of gas is located in front of the gas tank. The other two, made of fiber-reinforced polymers, are fixed under the boot floor. The total amount of gas stored at 200 bar is sufficient for approximately 445 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
A reserve nine-liter gas tank is designed to start the engine at low temperatures. In addition, gasoline can be used if the methane runs out.
Visually, the new A3 G-Tron does not differ from the petrol version. The bi-fuel version is equipped with the same LED front optics, digital instrument cluster and driver assistance systems. The only difference from the classic version is the boot capacity. A set of fuel tanks reduced the compartment volume from 380 to 280 liters.
Under the hood of the methane hatchback, a 1.5-liter supercharged engine with 131 horsepower (200 Nm) was placed. A seven-stage “robot” works in tandem with him. On gas, the hatchback can accelerate to “hundreds” in 9.7 seconds. The maximum speed is 211 kilometers per hour.
The launch of the methane hatchback Audi A3 Sportback 30 g-tron will begin in the fall. The cost of new items will be at least 30,700 euros. There are no plans to deliver a bi-fuel Audi A3 to Russia.
At the end of June, Skoda expanded the range of the new Octavia with a very gas version of the G-Tec. Such liftbacks and station wagons are equipped with three cylinders that hold 17.33 kilograms of methane, and a nine-liter gas tank.
