Audi electric SUV will receive virtual mirrorsMay 30, 2018
Electric crossover Audi e-tron will be equipped with virtual side mirrors. Cameras will be offered as an option in those markets where they are legally permitted. Due to their small size, they reduce drag and reduce noise when driving.
The camera image will be displayed on OLED displays located between the doors and the front panel. In total, there are three modes of information display: highway, turn and parking. They can be switched using the MMI interface.
Another feature of the Audi e-tron will be an adaptive air suspension: at a speed of over 120 kilometers per hour, it will lower the body by 26 millimeters. Also, the crossover will receive a fully closed flat bottom and an active air intake with two movable flaps. They redirect the airflow to cool the components of the electrical power plant or brakes.
In view of the improved aerodynamic characteristics, 19-inch wheels and model tires are also made. Due to this, the coefficient of aerodynamic resistance is only 0.28, and the power reserve in the WLTP cycle is 400 kilometers.
There is still no detailed information on the crossover. It is known only that he will receive a block of lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 95 kilowatt-hours and can be charged to 150-kilowatt charging stations.
A serial electric curvature will be shown in Brussels in the summer. The novelty will cost at least 80 thousand euros (two thousand cheaper than the diesel-electric hybrid Q7 e-tron). For comparison, Tesla Model X P100D will cost 132 thousand euros.
