Atelier Rtech Fabrications presented two restored Chevrolet pickupsDecember 27, 2019
A foreign company introduced the restored Chevrolet pickups. All work on the restoration of machines and their modernization were completed at the beginning of this year. Now, the famous comedian Jay Leno talks in more detail about each of them.
We must pay tribute to companies such as Rtech Fabrications, whose specialists are ready to turn old trucks into modern “monsters”, so to speak, to breathe new life into them. Atelier from Idaho (USA), completed work on two pickups of the Chevrolet brand, which were produced in the last century, and they did this at the beginning of 2019. Now we show them in more detail because the famous American comedian Jay Leno decided to talk about each of them as part of his video tour.
Mr. Leno was able to talk with the person who actually stands behind the creation of these monsters.
It’s about Randall Robertson, who is president of Rtech Fabrications and owns one of those pickups about which this video was shot. The car is called blue 66 Chevy.
The machine also has the working name Ponderosa. The company’s engineers re-created the crew cabin for the 1966 Chevrolet C30 pickup truck, using trucks with conventional cabs. This is because Chevrolet actually never produced such a vehicle in those days. Atelier Rtech Fabrications decided to literally cut the truck in half and create a special cab. As a result, the truck boasts a 4,445 mm wheelbase, and its towing capacity has increased to 3,764 kg.
Another atelier project was based on a 1972 Chevrolet truck and received similar changes. Called the Duke, it is also a plain truck with increased ground clearance, and, like the Ponderosa, it uses the Cummins turbodiesel to increase power.
Atelier Rtech Fabrications will arrange the production of such pickups for its customers. According to the video, prices usually start at $ 150,000, but with each car made to order in accordance with the specifications of the buyer, the final price may vary slightly.
