At Kenworth, for the first time in 57 years, the flagship has changedNovember 3, 2018
The flagship truck called the W990 replaced the legendary truck W900.
Since its release in 1961, the W900 cargo family has been repeatedly improved and transformed, leaving only the outer rectangular silhouette of the cab with headlamps built into the wings. And do not say that the new W990 is radically different from its predecessor.
In appearance, he added a more aerodynamic plastic hood and large LED headlamps. And, perhaps, that’s all. In technical terms, too, there is nothing particularly revolutionary: there is a 510-hp diesel engine Paccar MX-13 and the same brand 12-speed automatic transmission. The same engine works on DAF XF trucks.
The cab of the tractor is the same as the other models (for example, the T680 and T880), but the berths are substantially updated. Now buyers have a choice between three sizes – meter, 1.3 and 1.9 meters. Inside there is a full-size wardrobe, a large number of drawers for storage of things, an audio system with a 320 W amplifier and eight speakers. In addition, for convenience, a 1,800-watt inverter for four sockets has appeared.
Despite the change of the flagship, the classic long-range W900 does not go out of line. It is assumed that now it can be purchased only on pre-order.
