At CES-2020 showed the innovative charging station for electric cars from WallboxJanuary 9, 2020
With the new device, you can not only recharge an electric car, but also power the whole house, as well as share it with your neighbors.
Wallbox unveiled its new Quasar Charger at the CES-2020 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, which is positioned as “the world’s first bi-directional home charger.” Such an apparatus is capable of not only charging electric cars, but also receiving energy from them. This energy can then be returned to the electrical network to be used to power household appliances. The feature is certainly useful, because the electric car can be used to power the house in case of emergency.
Many people today know about bi-directional charging, but Wallbox said that they are offering customers a more attractive and convenient product. Conventional chargers of this kind are cumbersome, as they are designed for entire fleets of vehicles, as well as expensive ones (three times more expensive than standard charging). Wallbox engineers solved these problems by creating a low-cost and high-performance consumer-oriented model.
Owners will be able to control their energy consumption using a special application on their smartphone. Another interesting feature of the novelty is the option in the form of a face recognition function. Thanks to it, owners can provide friends and neighbors access to the charger if it is installed outside.
There is no information on prices for a new charge. But it is known that Quasar is a level 2 charger, compatible with type 1 and CHAdeMO connectors. Currently, the only models supporting bi-directional charging are the Nissan Leaf and the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
