Aston Martin spoke about the popularity of the hybrid hypercar ValkyrieJuly 2, 2019
According to the CEO of Aston Martin, the brand could easily sell 900 copies of a hypercar instead of the planned 150. The price for each instance of Aston Martin Valkyrie is 4.5 million dollars
The Aston Martin Valkyrie is the most technologically advanced car ever created by the British brand. Not surprisingly, the hypercar has a staggering price of 4.5 million dollars, but surprisingly, many people are really willing to pay this amount. It turns out that even the head of the brand, Andy Palmer, was also quite surprised by this fact.
In a recent interview with a foreign edition of CarSales, Mr. Palmer admitted that he and the company seriously underestimated the demand for Valkyrie when developing the initial production plan for the model. According to him, Aston Martin could easily sell 900 copies of a hypercar instead of 150 that are planned to be assembled.
“When we started discussing production volumes for our hybrid Valkyrie, we thought we could only make 24 or 59 units. Then we said, “Well, maybe we will sell 100, well, let’s try 150.”
Unfortunately, all of the above does not mean that the automaker will eventually create more copies of the hypercar. Andy Palmer confirmed that he does not expect the launch of “a large number of instances of the hybrid hypercar.” This probably means a potential loss of revenue for Aston Martin, but the CEO doesn’t worry about it.
