Aston Martin showed the first prototype of the DBX crossover. Now the car is being tested on the track in North Wales, where the World Rally Championship is held. The market launch of the model is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2019.
For DBX developed a special program of sea trials, which was preceded by intensive simulation tests. The crossover will ride over the landfields beyond the Arctic Circle, the deserts of the Middle East, the Alpine passes, the autobahns of Germany and, of course, the Nurburgring. In the mandatory program – checking off-road and towing capabilities.
The basis of the Aston Martin DBX will lay down a new platform. She will also use for electric models of the brand Lagonda. The crossover will retain the hybrid installation, as in the concept, but besides it, the model will have traditional petrol units: the Mercedes-AMG eight “turbo” with about 600 power and a 750-hp V12 engine. A feature of the model will be a side-view camera, like the Audi e-tron and Lexus ES of the new generation.
The main competitors of the Aston Martin DBX will be the Lamborghini Urus and the Ferrari Purosangue not yet represented. The planned sales volume of the crossover is five thousand copies per year. Production models will be adjusted at the company’s new plant in St. Atlane, South Wales.
