Aston Martin is busy developing a new rear view camera systemJanuary 4, 2020
Car mirrors have not changed much over the years. However, technology will soon be able to make changes to the time-tested rear-view mirrors.
For example, Aston Martin and Gentex are busy creating a new rear-view camera system for upcoming British-made cars. The new development should combine traditional mirrors and a flexible camera system.
Note that Gentex worked on the integration of cameras, software and a mirror screen. After that, Gentex, together with Lumatech, designed the exterior mirrors. Aston Martin agrees with a hybrid system that allows car owners to use the typical mirrors of their car. This type of camera also allows drivers to customize the viewing mode according to their wishes, using cameras or mirrors. A feature of the Gentex camera system is the so-called full-screen mirror, which can work not only like a regular rear-view mirror with automatic dimming, but and like an LCD display. The system is also able to meet the requirements regarding the field of view, which are installed in various countries of the world, due to the use of flat or curved glass.
Aston and Gentex Unveil New Camera Technology at the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera at CES Las Vegas on January 7th.
