Aston Martin introduced its first electric car – Rapide EApril 16, 2019
The British novelty received 601 horsepower and a power reserve of 321 km. Only 155 copies of the electric vehicle will be produced.
Now all our attention is focused on the 2019 New York Motor Show, but I must say that a similar event in China’s Shanghai cannot be bypassed – after all, it is there that the British Aston Martin presents another novelty. The automaker showed the Rapide E, which is the brand’s first all-electric production car.
This is the same four-door Rapide, only it does not have that amazing 6.0-liter V12 engine. Instead, the Rapide E has only two electric motors that are connected to the rear wheels.
In the place usually occupied by the V12, you will find a custom-made 800 V battery wrapped in Kevlar and carbon fiber consisting of more than 5,600 lithium-ion cells. The total power of the power plant is 601 hp (950 Nm).
According to representatives of Aston Martin, to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h, the electric novelty will spend less than four seconds. It is almost a full second faster than the powerful Rapide S. Maximum speed is limited to 250 km / h.
As for the range Rapide E, it depends on how often the car accelerates. The guys from Aston Martin estimate the range in more than 321 km by WLTP standards. You can charge the battery using fast charging at 400 V / 50 kW or 800 V / 100 kW. The built-in charger can fully charge the battery in three hours.
