Aston Martin has shown the motor of a new Valkyrie hypercarDecember 12, 2018
Aston Martin showed a 6.5-liter V12 gasoline engine, which will equip the new hypercar called Valkyrie. Power of the unit will exceed 1000 hp (at 11,000 rpm). The engine was developed in conjunction with the company Cosworth.
The weight of the motor is 206 kilograms. Aston Martin engineers developed the crankshaft and pistons by analogy with Formula 1 race cars.
Earlier it was reported that also in the power plant will include an electrical unit that works in conjunction with the recovery system of kinetic energy. In addition, the hypercar will be equipped with an ultra-light battery pack, prepared by the Croatian company Rimac. However, this information in Aston Martin has not yet been confirmed.
The machine will be released in a limited edition of 150 copies, which are already fully sold out. The development of the car is conducted in conjunction with the company Red Bull. The project was led by Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman and Red Bull Racing Technical Director Adrian Newey.
The car received a two-color body, LED optics and a diffuser. The company stressed that the new product will be different “unprecedented” level of tracking force. This was achieved through the use of aerodynamic elements.
The mass of the car will be 1030 kilograms. Thus, the ratio of power to mass will exceed one horsepower by one kilogram. The maximum speed of the novelty will be 402 km per hour.
