Aston Martin decided on the launch date for the crossover seriesJuly 25, 2018
The British manufacturer of sports cars Aston Martin confirmed the date of launch of the first crossover in production. The assembly of the model will be adjusted at the enterprise in Saint-Atan, South Wales, at the end of 2019. Now on the site, which consists of three hangars, formerly owned by the UK Ministry of Defense, construction and preparatory work is underway.
According to preliminary information, the crossover Aston Martin will be called Varekai. The range of engines of the model will consist only of gasoline units: the V12 turbo engine, the proprietary design of the Aston Martin, and the Mercedes-AMG bi-turbo engine, like the Vantage of the new generation. It is decided to abandon the hybrid and diesel power plants because of the high cost.
There will also be no electrical modification of Varekai. Production of electric cars, including crossovers, will be owned by Aston Martin brand Lagonda. How will the electric SUV look like the company demonstrated in the spring at the Geneva Motor Show.
The precursor of the crossover Aston Martin was presented in 2015 at the Geneva Motor Show. The prototype called DBX was equipped with electric motors located in wheel hubs, carbon-ceramic brake discs and KERS kinetic energy recovery system.
