Aston Martin DB5 Junior or vintage-style kids’ electric carAugust 28, 2020
The British automaker has unveiled a miniature replica of its iconic DB5 model, which received the Junior prefix. The car is beautifully detailed and equipped with an electric motor. The prices for children’s toys are known and they are quite high.
In the wake of the Bugatti Baby that came out last month, British Aston Martin is now unveiling a similar project for a car for children. It is based on the DB5 and is named DB5 Junior. Developed in collaboration with The Little Car Company, it is essentially an electric replica of the original DB5.
With a length of about 3 meters, it can easily accommodate an adult and a child, sitting side by side on separate bucket seats.
The car is equipped with one electric motor with a capacity of 6.7 horsepower (5 kilowatts), which is enough to accelerate a car weighing 270 kg to a maximum speed of 48 km / h.
Electric power spins the rear 10-inch wire wheels and braking force is provided by four disc brakes. The battery is stored under the bonnet and provides a range of 16 to 32 kilometers on a single charge. The battery is easily removable and the batteries can be replaced in seconds.
DB Junior, a modern electric car, has three driving modes: beginner, expert and race. Each mode provides a different amount of available power, and the Beginner mode is equipped with a remote emergency stop switch that allows the vehicle to be shut off remotely up to 30 meters away.
Customers can also buy an upgraded DB5 Junior with an optional driving mode that increases the power output to 13.4 hp. (10 kW) and increases the maximum speed. The more expensive version of the car also has a carbon fiber body, limited slip differential and a second battery.
The DB5 Junior starts at a minimum of £ 35,000, while the more powerful DB5 Vantage Junior starts at £ 45,000. Production will take place in the UK and begin next year, with first deliveries scheduled for 2021.
