Renowned tuning studio Ares Design has developed an upgrade kit for the Land Rover Defender. Among other things, the first generation of the British off-road legend received a powerful V8 engine.

Ares Design is known for its outrageous tuning projects such as the Wami Lalique Spyder, a wild retro car. However, if desired, the company can take a more subtle approach to modernizing machines. This is exactly what she did with the first generation Land Rover Defender. The company has revamped the classic SUV with modern touches, a few design updates and of course more power.

Ares added a few visual improvements – in particular, the wings were widened.

The Defender also features carbon fiber trim, LED headlights and new round LED taillights. The headlights are housed in a new one-piece carbon fiber front. Ares added a panoramic roof, enlarged rear windows and 18-inch wheels of his own production. The cabin has new leather and carbon fiber trim, a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto services, updated air duct and power windows.

The SUV is now equipped with a start / stop button. Instead of the standard four-cylinder turbo diesel, under the hood is a supercharged 4.8-liter V8 that delivers 282 hp. power and 440 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a reinforced six-speed “automatic”. Ares also reinforced the axle shafts and CV joints by installing an electronically adjustable suspension. Braking power is provided by AP Racing six-piston calipers.

The Classic Defender also features heated side mirrors that also feature turn signal markers, a 1.4-inch (35mm) suspension lift. Work on the SUV takes about three months. Customers can fully customize the interior, including aluminum trim.

Not so long ago, Automotive News wrote that the Land Rover Defender 110 has become a luxurious restomod. The Land Rover Defender 110 SUV, which rolled off the assembly line back in 1993, visited the Osprey Custom Cars workshop. With the help of tuners, SUVs have become more modern and powerful.
