At the start of the race, Sebastien Buemi was able to pass Jose Maria Lopez and came in second place. In addition, on the first lap Edoardo Mortara drove past the turn and broke the front wing, provoking yellow flags.

After a few more rounds, Lopez skipped ahead of Jean-Eric Verne with Andre Lotterer and became fifth, while Vergne passed Buemi, coming in second.

33 minutes before the end of the race, Felix Rosenquist fizzled out due to technical problems, and seven minutes later the reigning champion of the series Jean-Eric Vergne was ahead in the fight for leadership and Costa.
