Another updated crossover Hyundai i20 have debutedMay 3, 2018
The standard restyling hatch i20 in India was introduced back in February 2018. In this country, the usual model in the name is the prefix Elite. Freshened Hyundai i20 got a new grille, bumpers and lanterns, modernized headlights and fog lights, rear license plate moved to the luggage door. In April, the European version of the updated i20 debuted, and at the same time Hyundai showed a cross version of i20 Active, designed for the Old World. The Indian modernized “crossover” is declassified only today.
The restyling program for the usual five-door hatch i20 in India and Europe is the same, however, the “crosses” have differences. The front part of both “all-road” variants has not changed, but at the same time the stern of the european i20 Active was modernized in the same way as in the standard model, while in the Indian version – both the old lamps and the license plate in the old place. As well as Europeans, Indian buyers are freshened Hyundai i20 Active is available with a two-tone color, only the roof and front pillars can be executed not in black, as in the European specification, but in white. In the interior of the Indian Hyundai i20 Active, new finishing materials have appeared, and also a multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen is now available for the model (the European version of multimedia had before). There are no other changes in the interior.
In India, a freshened cross-hatch can be bought with the old petrol “quartet” 1.2 Kappa and turbodiesel 1.4 CRDi capacity of 83 and 90 hp. respectively. The first motor is combined with a five-step manual transmission, the second is paired with 6-speed manual transmission. The same engines and transmissions are equipped with a standard and updated hatch Elite i20.
The engine range of the European restyling i20 includes only gasoline engines: turbo turbo 1.0 T-GDI (100 or 120 hp), “atmospherics” 1.2 (75 or 84 hp) and 1.4 (100 hp). The turbocharged engine is equipped with a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual or a seven-speed automatic transmission with two clutches (came to replace the 4AKP and variator), atmospheric motors are put only mechanical boxes. The drive in both the Indian and European versions is just the front. Note that the pre-reform i20 in Europe had diesels 1.1 CRDi and 1.4 CRDi, but because of the introduction of more stringent environmental standards after restyling they were abandoned.
In India, the sales of the updated Hyundai i20 Active have already started: the petrol cross-hatch costs from 699,990 rupees, diesel – from 896,205 rupees. Before the European dealers the restyled family i20 will get in the summer, the prices are not announced yet. Pre-reform i20 Active in Germany, for example, costs from 14 290 euros. Cars are produced at the Indian factory Hyundai.
