The list of applicants of “World Car of the Year” included 61 models, of which by April 2019 will choose the best

The organizers of the contest “World Car of the Year” (WCOTY) published a list of applicants for this title in 2019. It included 61 models: among them there are new items Mecedes-Benz GLE and Kia Ceed GT, as well as the unofficially unveiled Audi e-tron. The main winner of the contest and the model, recognized as the best in five additional categories, will be announced at the Auto Show in New York next spring.

In addition to the models worthy of the title “World Car of the Year”, the jury will select winners in the categories “Best Luxury Car of the Year”, “Best Sports Car of the Year”, “Best Green Car of the Year” and “Best City Car of the Year”.

The list of nominees included: Acura RDX, Audi E-tron, Audi A1, Audi A6, Audi Q3, BMW 3-Series, BMW i8 Roadster, BMW X2, Cadillac XT4, Citroen C5 Aircross and Dacia Duster. Also, Ford Focus, Honda Clarity, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Nexo, Infiniti QX50, Jaguar E-Pace, Jaguar I-Pace, Jeep Cherokee are also claimed for the victory in the competition. In addition, the list includes Jeep Wrangler, Kia Ceed, Kia Niro EV, Kia Soul, Lexus ES, Lexus UX, Nissan Altima, Nissan Kicks, Seat Arona, Subaru Forester, Suzuki Jimny, Toyota Avalon, Toyota Corolla, Toyota RAV4, Volvo S60 / V60 and Volvo XC40.

As part of the ceremony, the jury will also choose the “Best Executive Car”. This year, Audi A7, Audi Q8, BMW 8-Series, Mercedes-Benz GLE and Volkswagen Touareg are claimed for the victory.

In the category “The best sports car” to claim claim Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M2, Hyundai Veloster N, Kia Ceed GT and McLaren 720S. This year, Volvo XC60 became the winner of the “World Car of the Year” competition. The best luxury car was named Audi A8, sporty, green and urban – BMW M5, Nissan Leaf and Volkswagen Polo respectively. Award for the best design received Range Rover Velar.

In 2017, the “World Car of the Year” was chosen Jaguar F-Pace. The best in their categories were also Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Porsche Boxster Cayman, Toyota Prius Prime and BMW i3.
