Tesla Corporation at the Battery Day event has released some information about the new version of the Model S, which received the Plaid prefix to the name.
So, three electric motors with a total capacity of 1100 hp. will make the novelty the fastest electric car on the planet. According to Elon Musk, Tesla founder, the Model S Plaid will be able to accelerate to 97 km / h in less than 2 seconds. Thus, the novelty will be about half a second faster than the previously shown electric sedan Lucid Air. To cover the distance of a quarter mile, the Model S Plaid will spend less than 9 seconds at a top speed of 320 km / h.
The declared power reserve for the novelty is 837 km, which is only five kilometers more than the long-range version of the Lucid Air. How the engineers of the American corporation were able to achieve such a result is not reported.
There are currently no images of the Model S Plaid, so it is unknown if the new variant will get any external changes. At the same time, the cost of such a Tesla is known, it will cost from 139,990 dollars. The first car deliveries are expected next year.
In addition, it was recently noted that the new Tesla Roadster will be brought to the Nurburgring next year. It should be emphasized that the American automaker demonstrated a working prototype of this model back in 2017.
