Andreas Seidl: We have achieved both goalsSeptember 8, 2019
Carlos Sainz – coped with the situation in the qualification finals in Monza and managed to drive a fast lap, eventually finishing in seventh place. His partner Lando Norris qualified 14th, but will lose ground due to a fine.
Carlos Sainz (7th): “Intense qualifications. A strange last attempt – we are not used to it. In any case, I showed everything that the machine is capable of, and the team had a great qualification – we can be pleased with the performance. Seventh place is a good starting position, I have a great chance to compete for points. Perhaps the weather will play a role, so we will prepare for any scenario. ”
Lando Norris (14th): “Nice day. I got a fine and more prepared for the race. In my opinion, today I did what I needed. I qualified ahead of Verstappen and Gasley, who will also receive fines. In addition, I helped Carlos make it to the finals. We did everything we could, so have a successful day. ”
Andreas Seidl, team leader: “Last weekend in Belgium on Friday and Saturday we were faced with problems, so when we arrived in Monza, our goal was to increase the efficiency of the car on the highway, where low downforce is needed. Our special qualification goal was to help Carlos make it to the finals, and Lando to start ahead of Gasli and Verstappen, who would also receive fines. We achieved both goals, and yesterday in training, the machine showed good speed on a long series of circles, so we are optimistic and believe that we will fight for points.
The team worked perfectly in qualification: in the second session, we sent cars to the track exactly when it was needed, so Carlos was able to use the slipstream for Lando. Of course, Norris will start from a lower position due to a fine, but we are here to fight and hope for an interesting Italian Grand Prix. ”
