Andre Lotterer: Byrd called me after a race in Hong Kong, but I didn’t pick up
March 22, 2019The DS Techeetah pilot Andre Lotterer said that after the race in Hong Kong he ignored the apology of Sam Byrd, because of which he lost the victory.
The German was in the lead for most of the race and more than ever was close to the first victory in Formula E. But a small contact on the brakes on the penultimate round destroyed all his hopes for success.
“He tried to call me, sent a message with apologies. I did not answer, let him feel guilty, – said Lotterer at a meeting with the press before the start of the race weekend in the Chinese city of Sanya. – However, we met on Thursday and shook hands. Moving on. This is life, racing, and sometimes it happens. ”
Bird, in turn, confirmed that he really tried to apologize, but the German driver did not answer his call.
“He was not interested in my apologies. But this is his problem. Would I have done otherwise in that episode? No, ”said the British racer, noting that there was no malicious intent in his actions.
