An early look at the Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover appears on the webJune 6, 2021
On the official page of GM Design on Instagram, a render of a futuristic crossover has appeared. This car could very well be the all-electric Cadillac Lyriq crossover.
The Cadillac Lyriq is undoubtedly impressive – at least in terms of design. The all-electric crossover is a design unlike any other Cadillac that came before it, which made it very interesting in the eyes of the media and the public.
If you’re wondering how the Cadillac design team came up with this design, GM Design’s Instagram account might provide some insight into it. A recent post on this page shows an early crossover sketch by Zhou Fang, Cadillac’s lead creative designer.
While not explicitly mentioned, we have several reasons to believe this is an early sketch of the Lyriq crossover.
The triangular accents in the corners, while the sleek roof in the render is taller, although unrealistic, is a precursor to the production Lyric roof line.
According to Mr. Zhou, this sketch was made in 2017, which somehow fits into the schedule for the high-performance electric car. Initially presented as a prototype, the electric Lyriq was shown in 2020 and went into production this April.
It is important to note that the Lyriq shown in our published photos is not the final production version of the new product. The prototype is 85 percent complete, according to the automaker, so there may be changes to the final car that should be made in the 2023 model year.
Not so long ago, AutoTimesNews wrote that Cadillac explained why the Lyriq electric crossover does not have a front rack. The new battery-powered SUV was equipped with only one trunk: it is in the traditional place behind the rear row of seats. Lyriq rivals have two trunks, but Cadillac decided to abandon the front luggage compartment.
