Amphicar small-capacity convertible amphibious will be on saleSeptember 19, 2020
Auction house Mecum will put up the Amphicar subcompact, which rolled off the assembly line in 1967, on October 15. The main feature of this model is that it can move not only on land, but also on water.
The amphibian to be sold is one of only 800 pieces assembled by Amphicar. Judging by the photo, the convertible is in excellent condition: its body is made of steel, however, according to the seller, there is not a trace of rust on it.
The Amphicar 770 has a soft convertible top that must be raised and lowered manually. For the interior of the 4-seater convertible, red and white leather was used, and from the options it is worth noting only the Motorola brand radio.
On land, the car is driven by a 38-horsepower 1.15-liter engine coupled with a 4-speed manual transmission. Such a motor allowed the amphibian to accelerate up to 120 km / h.
On the water, the Amphicar moves thanks to two propellers, which are installed on the back of the machine, and the same motor rotates them. In the role of a boat, a car is capable of gaining a maximum speed of 12 km / h. As for the cost of the rare amphibian, it still remains unknown.
In addition, it was recently noted that an army Defender was put up for sale as in a James Bond movie. It should be emphasized that we are talking about a model of the British company in 1993 production year with a range of 114,000 kilometers.
