Americans will learn to ride for free on manual gearboxJuly 6, 2019
True, the offer is valid only in July
This month, the official dealers of the manufacturer of motorcycles Polaris will make a great gift for Americans: all buyers of the Slingshot tricycle will be taught how to handle a manual gearbox for free!
Polaris calls its Slingshot tricycle a three-wheeled sports car, and it’s not far from the truth. Formally, “Slingshot” refers to motorcycles, but it offers almost automobile comfort and decent dynamics, because the ratio of power to mass is almost 230 horsepower per ton. The appearance of the tricycle turned out quite bright: it has a wide body in the shape of a triangle, wide wheels, a spoiler and safety arches.
And he also has a pair of comfortable seats with three-point seat belts, although you still have to wear a helmet – after all, according to the documents, this is a bike. But there is one nuance. The Slingshot is equipped with a 2.4-liter GM Ecotec engine with a capacity of 173 horsepower and a five-speed manual gearbox. And this element of construction is a serious problem for Americans.
Many of them had never even seen what a car with a manual transmission is. No wonder there is a joke that the best anti-theft system in the United States is the manual gearbox. To stimulate sales of Slingshot, Polaris dealers have ventured to hire driving instructors and teach all potential customers a free ride on the pen.
